FIRST Robotics Competition
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition. Each year, teams of high school students and mentors work during a six-week period to build game-playing robots that preform a task specified at the beginning of the six-week period. Every task that the teams are meant to build a robot for is not revealed to the public until the about a week into the new year. This starts the timer for teams all around the world to begin the construction of their robots.
As Dean Kamen said, “FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect – of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, and with a sense of that they can create their future”
